3ds max 2012 snaps not working

hello, I seem to have messed up while using snaps. They were working fine for most of my project and than all of a sudden i am not able to create new snap starting from the old ones i have created. Used snaps for walls. I can only select and use snaps for part of the project from the grid lines but not the rest. Any ideas
