How do you apply the Vertexpaint in 3DS??? HELP

Ok call me stupid but I can't understand how the heck to apply the vertexpaint to show when you render. I can paint/blend/colour in the view port but when I want to render the blasted thing it looks like it was before I even touched it. I am thinking its something to do with the radiosity....is it? What the heck am I doing wrong???????????? HELP

8) LoL, you're not stupid...

The Vertexpaint modifer is only for changing the information that's stored in the vertices so that you can export the max file into another medium. Each vertice has color information, and the Vertexpaint will change the vertices for a real-time coloring system (e.g. Usually, you would use Vertexpaint if you had, say a game engine that could utilize your Max model.)

Vertex colors will never affect your rendering.

Vertexpaint really, really, really - shouldn't be used as a substituion for textures, unless you're doing something like I mentioned in the former.

If you're looking to paint on a model without going through the hassles of UV Mapping, I recommend DeepUV and DeepPaint. From experience, these are both very user friendly tools that will do the painting that you're looking to do here.

If you have any other questions, feel free to write back. I hope this helps you.
