Question Texture Plane

Hi, I have Plane and I want to assign texture to it but it seems texturing only works for 3d object such as cubes. How do I UV texture a Plane mesh? The Mesh will be plane will be used to build 3d worlds. I guess I could just assign paint texture but I want texture map so I can take advantage of 3D api's on iphone.

it should be the same way as any other 3d mesh...what happens when you try to do it the same way?

None of the options appear to do the mapping. Can you give me quick simple outline I'd be very appreciative. All I want is to create plane and add texture image to it. UV Mapping. I also convert the plane into triangles first. (tab, control-T).

THanks!

I thiought I posted reply but I don't see it so here it is again.

Basically, for plane the options for add the texture are turned off. but I can load them just not assign them. Could you please outline procedure to texturing a plane? I will follow it.

Thank you!!
