Boolean problem
Hi everybody
I'm trying to make an auxiliar headlight to my car. I tried using Boolean with a sphere but it doen't work properly... ![]() I made a preview in Photoshop of how it would look in 3dsmax Is there an easy way to make it without the need of making a new front spoiler with de headlight joined on it? Thanks again |

Well I tried the boolean with a sphere and it just made a circular hole on the car spoiler, and didn't get a deep parabola on it, what would be the light reflector.

booleans are a nightmare with Max and rarely give great results as the mesh afterwards is messy,
you usually need to make sure that the mesh is completely capped off with zero holes in the mesh to make it work (even if its only a temporary cap just for the boolean operation. Looks like at least the slice edge down the middle is one big hole in your mesh, try capping it and boolean'ing again

huh man boolean that is totaly **** in max it will not work the way you want,
here i am giving you a tip, go to face and select the faces where you like to headlight be then delete the unwanted faces, then go to vertex mode or edge mode then extrude them back, i usualy doing mine like this, hope this one will help you.
