Custom doors
Is there any way of making a custom pivot door and then set it up to operate like one in the create>AEC Objects>pivot door section?
I want to model a door for a cabinet and the top edge of it is curved. Is there any way of drawing it from scratch, then incorporate it as a true door with adjustable degrees of occlusion? |

you mean the point at which it rotates?
next to the create tab i think there is a certain tab which inside it says 'effect pivot only' select that and then you are able to move the pivot around... |

No, I mean create a custom door shape, then have control over it similar to the controls you have when making doors with the program, and have the option of controlling it from the panel on the left.
flip hinge/flip swing/ the ammount of degrees it is open or closed. Try creating a door, you'll see what I mean with the parameter controls down the left. |

well it can happen in maya but in max its little bit difficult untill you are not script master, it can be done if you can write scripts.
otherwise its hard to do like you mentioned.

Hi,
try using the "sliders" to control the rotation of the door. ofcourse you need to asign the parameter first to the slider. You will get the slider in "helpers" under "manipulators".

Hmm dont know how stuff like that works in max. Also im not sure what you are saying. For doors in maya you cna just move the pivot point to where you want the hinge to be.

You can change the pivot point of the objects from the "hierarchy" panel.
If you also want to animate the door then either you can manually rotate the door or use the sliders to control the rotation. |
