Raytrace problem!
ok well heres the img
![]() ok i want it to show the whole bottom of the object on the 'plane' that has raytrace as its material but it only shows teh edges of it which is in white... :\ need help on color types either if it has to be for ambient or somethign.. need serious help, so confused and would love to learn more about raytrace + if anyone has any cool ideas on what i can make the 'plane' texture like a cool design or like look or something that would make it look like glass and then reflect the throwing knifes or something just tell me please, i think itll be pretty sweet to have different looks instead of a basic reflection. regards, nova |

Hi me again, the first thing I see when I look at your pic is that the knives are floating above the plane, this is obvious when you look at the uppermost handle. I fhte knive was on the surface, the reflection and the objectr would meet.
The reason the reflection of the face of the knives is the same colour as the 'evirontment' is simply because there is no light on the under side of the knife so it is completely in shadow, reflecting nothing. If you want a glass plane you would at least need add a bitmap in the 'reflection' slot of the material you are giving it. this would make it look as though it was in a scene. Also, the thing about glass is that it is transparent and therefore you need to have some underneath it to be seen i.e. the floor The best order to make a scene is to get all the objects modelled that you want, put them in place, assign all of them the same flat colour (white is best here) then sort out the lighting (if textres and materials are applied before its harder to see the lighting setup as colours can be mistaken for shadows .etc After all this is done, THEN worry about the materials. [edit] Ooo! 50th post, Im now an esteemed member!
