.Net web application performance optimization

Dear all,

I have experienced the fact that when we use Hashtable (in multiple), it significantly reduce the performance of the application.

I have used hashtable to hold class object. for few hashtable items, it worked fine. however, when its items increased, it started slowing the performance of application.

what othere alternatives (structures) are there in .net which can hold class objects in very efficient way.
