Sprymenubar and database linking

I am creating a website in Dreamweaver CS5. I have a Sprymenubar that i need to connect to a database (PHP/MySQL). The menu bar has 5 buttons (Starters, Sides, Snacks, Mains, Desserts)

When you select one of these button a menu drops down with a selection of recipes. When yo select the recipe you want, I need the website to connect to my database, find the recipe selected and display it in the bottom section of the page.

I have very little experience in HTML/PHP or any language really so a "FOR DUMMIES" description would be helpful. the website in its current state can be found at w w w . househusband . t k
