PayPal blocks users that have old, unsafe browsers

PayPal says it will block users that have old and unsafe browsers from logging in to the website. The company states it will warn customers before blocking them. In a white paper, PayPal says there is a significant set of users who use very old and vulnerable browsers, such as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 4 or even Internet Explorer 3. These browsers do not support Extended Validation SSL Certificates, the technology used by PayPal to let users check a website’s organisational identity. Newer versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox support this technology but Safari, Apple’s browser, does not.
