Need Help Deciding Like new 21.5 Imac 2.5 I5

The lightly used 21.5 Imac 2.5 I5 (Jan 2012 mode)l would cost me 1100.00 No tax or shipping. It includes MS Office which might be useful, but the primary job for the Imac is to run Final Cut..

I just retired from HP and I have 80 hours worth of old vhs to Capture/Index and created DVD's and clips. A new IMac would run me over 1500.00 . The system will not be a show piece in my home as I will use it in a workshop over my garage.

Will I need the extra horsepower or graphics in the new model? I don't see Thunderbolt helping me and I also need a DVD if I buy new.

Thanks, I really need some expert advice. I have used Pinnicle in the past but got weary of its crashes on an over burdoned Windows pc.
