Batch mode

I *think* this be simple but I google and google and just can't find a simple example and I'm not sure how the script thing is or is supposed to help. All I want to do is take a pile of tif's convert them to RGB ( Image - Mode - RGB ) then convert them to indexed ( Image - Mode - Indexed ) save (in gimp) and then I run convert (imagemagik) to uncompress and then I tesserocr them.

I don't know why, don't care why ;), but doing this does a real good job of converting these tif's into text. I just don't want to do this in gimp by hand it's of course hundreds of files.

I ran around 300 double sided pages through the scanner was tif the right (best) choice to ocr? I don't know that either but that's what I need and this works and scanning 300 double sides pages blows so unless there's a real good reason to do it again in a different format to make it easier I'd just like to figure out how to work with what I have.

Seems like batch mode for these two steps shouldn't be had but so far it's eluded me.
