Can I drag a web image into my photo?

Wondering if Gimp allows you to drag an image into gimp. I take room photos and drop catelog images into them for my clients to see how they would look in their rooms. I do this fine in photoshop just wondering if there is a simple way to do this with Gimp. Thanks

You can't simply drag and drop, but there are 2 other methods accomplishing the same thing and just as easy.
  1. Right-click the image and click "Copy" (or "Copy Image" in Firefox), then paste it in GIMP.
  2. Right-click the image and click "Save Image As..." and save the image onto your hard drive, then use it in GIMP.
In Windows, dragging and dropping is usually just a quick method for the Cut/Paste or Copy/Paste function.

You also will get the annoying white or whatever color background that overlaps your background... I would suggest using renders...

You can use them by:
  • Selecting (in the layers dialogue) the selection to alpha icon after right clicking to select the base image, and then you can copy it into your canvas

Do a quick google search on Renders to get lots of sites
