Writing text on my CD template in GIMP?

I already have a nice circular CD-sized template background. I just need to put some text on it - and I am stuck!

I loaded this script 'CDlabel2.scm' script found at the shallowsky Gimp CD design webpage. It creates a really useful CD-sized background template.

I would like to know how I can place a few boxes of text in various positions on top of this template. It is probably a very simple request. I am new to GIMP, and I have spent several hours trying, but I haven't got a clue how to make the software do what I would like it to do.

I hope someone can help me! Thank you!
