question about backgrounds

I really need some help. I use several photo types including Photoshop Elements, Photo Suite III, Print Master, Print Shop Pro, Photo Editor, Print Shop Ensemble III, and several more that have come with Cameras and Scanners. I take a lot of pictures with digital (and with 35 mm put on CD’s) of my 6 month old granddaughter. Now I know that there are ways of taking the subject (my granddaughter) and putting different backgrounds behind. On some of mine all I see is “LAYERS” I don’t want the background that I took the picture to start with---I would like to make it with some type of backdrop similar to what you have done at the studios, which my daughter can not afford. I have several really good shots for her setting in her swing, on the bed, and in Paw’s lap but need the backdrops to make she look like she is setting on professional type backgrounds. Any program will be appreciated or any suggestion on one that I already have (with instructions I can understand!!!! ops:

I think that this type of thing with the backgrounds is right up my alley...

Photoshop 7 is quite appropriate for what you are looking for.

I know that it is very possible to change the backgrounds very easily.
