Lighting help

Hello again.

It's been a while but I'm finally back.

I've been modelling a pool table in 3DS MAX, the 2nd one I've done, the first one not being how I really wanted it.

I have the table practically done, it just needs texture mapping.

I've tried adding some lighting to it, but it just doesn't seem realistic enough.

The shadows are as dark as I want them, but the part underneath the table is too light, it should be a lot darker the further underneath the table it gets.

The current light settings I have are:

3X Omni lights over the table, shadows = on, with it set to adv ray traced. Intensity multiplier = 0.4, shadow = 0.8 density.

1X Skylight

Any suggestions how I can get it so underneath the table is much darker than the edge of the shadows?

Thanks.

Try using radiosity or lighttracer. It will take a bit of a time to calculate like in vray, but its worth a try.

Hi,

There is no need to consider using Vray when
you have the equally powerful Mental Ray
render along with your Max Purchase.

Final gather will be your friend in achieving
what you have stated.

Bri
