From Solidworks to Maya

Hello Everyone

I have designed an optical system in Solidworks and I would like to import it into Maya in order to do an animation video of my system such as laser beams moving within the system. I exported the model from solidworks in a IGES file. When i try to import it in maya the model appears as a wireframe and the only way I know to convert it into solid part is by pressing the ''smooth shade all'' command in maya. By doing that all the model have a black color. Is there any way to convert it into a solid model in maya and still keeping the colors and materials as designed in Solidworks?

Thanks in advance
