Draw the curves in illustrator, export them as *.eps with illustrator 8 format, import them into maya via "import", so u will have the curves. You can bevel them with bevel plus, u can find it in the surface-tab (F3) under surfaces.
If u donīt have illustrator than do it with the EP or CV-curves, start with 3 cubic, when u have hard edges use 1 linear, but the easiest way is with illustrator.
