Powerpoint::Missing Images in Presentation

Computer setup-Pentium P4,DDR400 4Gb,500Gb SATA with 205Gb Free, GeForce MX4000 VGA 3D Video Card, with Powerpoint 2003(11.8169.8203)SP3. I am working with Presentations containing about 400 Photo Images, some Transition Slides and Sounds or .wav Music on each Slide.
To begin the creation, all photos have been resized to 800x600 using MS Picture Manager, imported into the Presentation using Image Importer Wizard, then cropping and compressing using Powerpoint,Slide Show> Set Up Show, then creating 4 Country Intro Slides with National Anthem.wav, then adding 4 Backgroung Music.wav files to run for a number of slides. This Presentation is now 114MB on the drive.
The frustating problem I have encountered is, when I View the Show which runs automaticaly, timed to 3 secs for the majority of slides, it misses some Images randomly, although the Caption shows on the screen. This problem seems to have progressively got worse, the more work I do on it.
At the same time, since this problem became noticeable, Emailed PPSs I have received display the same problem of missing the occassional Image in the Presentation.
The Computer is functioning correctly for everything else which makes me think there is a problem with Powerpoint.
I have cleaned out %temp% files and other maintenance items in an effort to improve the performance.
Help Please, Please.

Powerpoint::Missing Images

An Update to my previous Post. In trying to resolve this problem, I have:--- (a) Upgraded memory to 4Gb (b) Remade the file as a Linked File instead of a Embedded File (c) Uninstalled and Reinstalled Office 2003 with latest updates. None of these overcame the missing images problem.
I then installed Powerpoint 2003 Viewer and the Embedded File on my Laptop and the viewing of the file was perfect, all images displayed correctly.
I then installed Powerpoint 2003 Viewer on my PC as a seperate Application and viewed the file using this viewer, not Powerpoint itself. All images displayed correctly.
This leaves me to believe that Powerpoint itself has a problem with its inbuilt viewer.
Can anyone provide a nswer and fix to this frustrating problem . Thank you
