Problem with tut

I am trying to do lettering where I have it floating as a tut wants. I haven't a clue what I am doing wrong. The letters are not filled with the color, just around the edges. I have PSP 9. Can some help me please. I need the letters filled with the color. Do I have to use the wand & color each of the letters seperately? The tuts are old versions of Psp. I have tried various ways of changing the materials palette, closing off some of the thing & nothing works.
Thanks

Maybe you can show us what the tutorial is? Without seeing what it's asking you to do all we can do is guess..

I can't really think what you might be doing wrong, it's pretty late lol, only that if it's asking you to color the text, try typing it in that particular color first.
