Vlc media player

My VLC media player had been running fine in 0.9.8.1 until I updated it to 0.9.9 and I cannot find an old download. The player still runs files, but it doesn't associate any file extentions with the application and I can't seem to find the exe. I have downloaded this program several times from different sources. No luck, please help.
