Two text fields to single datetime field?

I was searching for the solution for this but realize many of the solutions found are not applicable to ms access 2003.

I have two fields namely Event_D: 30/04/2012 and Event_T: 22:01:18
Both are text data type.
How can i combine this two into a single datetime field Event_DT:
30/04/2012 22:01:18 ?
